Protect Your Home

Breaker Panel Upgrades

First, it’s important to know what kind of electrical system you have. If your home has round glass fuses, chances are that it’s extremely old. If your panel has black switches designed to control the flow of energy into your home, it may be somewhat newer.

An outdated panel has a greater likelihood of experiencing failures. The general rule of thumb is that electric panels should be replaced every 25 to 40 years. You can also encounter issues with panels that are 15-20 years old. The first place to start is with the age of your home. If your home falls into that age bracket and you’ve never replaced the panel, it’s time to start thinking about it.

Signs you have electrical wiring issues:

  • Flickering Lights
  • Lights That Dim When You Turn on Larger Appliances
  • An Unusual Burning or Ozone Smell
  • Scorch Marks or Other Kinds of Discoloration on Your Outlets
  • Sparks When You Plug Things In
  • Small Shocks When You Touch An Appliance
  • Warmth Around Your Panel
  • Electrical Cords That Feel Warm
  • Frequent Circuit Trips or Blown Fuses
  • Hissing Noises In Your Breaker Box

Any of these could be signs that you need an electrical panel repair or replacement. Let us give you a free estimate for an electrical panel upgrade!

Common Questions

Is it safe to do your own electrical repairs?
Do it yourself electrical repairs are NEVER something we recommend unless you are a licensed electrician with experience. There are many electrical repairs that you can get yourself into a harmful situation if you don’t know what you are doing.
Do you sell light fixtures?
Unfortunately, we don’t sell the actual light fixtures that you may need for a project but we can install fixtures you have purchased elsewhere. If you have a ceiling fan or a dining room light you need someone to hang, we can absolutely help you out with that.
Can you add an outlet in my home?
Yes, we add outlets to homes all the time! If you want to add a brand new outlet, we do want to come out and take a look at it first. That way we can make sure everything looks good to put an outlet where you want it, and we also will give you a free estimate on the cost of adding it.
How can I tell when an electrical outlet is not safe?
Some signs of a bad outlet might be that the plug falls out of the outlet without touching it, or the outlet is not secure and will move easily when touching it. When the outlet is warm or hot to the touch, you need to immediately take care of the issue by unplugging the device and calling a professional as this type of problem can result in a fire.
How do I reset my breaker?
Turn the breaker completely off and then completely on. Some breakers will look like they are not tripped, but could be in the neutral stage, which still does not allow them to function properly. A way to help determine this, is to turn every breaker completely off and then back on.
