Experienced HVAC Technicians
Home improvement projects that involve finishing the basement offer great returns on investment—completing unfinished basements in your home costs less than building additional rooms. The square-foot construction cost for remodeling a basement space is much lower.
You can use the additional space provided by your basement as a guest room, home gym, hobby room, or music studio. You need an experienced contractor to provide quality service that is compliant with the local building codes. Experts can access the needed equipment to ensure structural integrity and handle the electrical, ventilation, and plumbing systems. Building projects must adhere to building codes to avoid legal complications and fines.
What Goes Into Finishing a Basement?
A finished basement is a finished space that’s been transformed and renovated to match the other areas in a house. A few considerations go into ensuring the comfort of a finished basement. Experts must address structural issues and moisture to avoid future problems. A clear plan helps minimize your project cost to fit your budget and avoid financial constraints.
Flooring options, heat pumps, and air conditioners can help improve the quality of your living space. However, to maintain comfortable temperatures, you need to install efficient HVAC systems. Consulting a basement finishing expert can help you determine the best system options for basements.
Heating and Cooling
Unfinished basements are mainly used to house air handlers and HVAC components. When finishing a basement, remember that heating and cooling systems must be accessible for future repairs, inspection, or replacement. During heating and cooling system installations, professionals plan for a mechanical room that allows technicians to access the equipment.
Professionals determine the appropriate HVAC system size for your home and basement. If your existing unit is too small, you may need to address that issue to ensure maximum comfort in your new basement living space.
Plumbing for a Finished Basement
To add a bathroom or a toilet to your basement, you need an efficient plumbing system. Plumbers attach the system to the plumbing lines if your home is built above sewer lines. You can select from 2 other systems if the sewage pipes are above your basement levels. One involves an up-flushing system that relies on tubes that push wastewater into the main sewage line. The alternative option is a sewage-ejector system. It sits beneath the toilet and works like a septic tank.

Electrical Work
A finished basement requires permanent and well-fitted electrical systems. Electricians must install them appropriately to provide adequate energy for lighting, electrical outlets, and water heaters. Electrical work should be a priority since mistakes can mask problems that may cause future hazards.
Professionals often do electrical work when the basement is unfinished. They run the wiring and outlets and set up electrical switches before the walls are set up. If the previous electrical wiring isn’t up to code, professionals redo the wiring to meet the required standards.
Other HVAC Options to Consider
In addition to HVAC units for temperature control, you can install a dehumidifier to regulate the moisture in the air. Professionals can help you choose a suitable and energy-efficient dehumidifier for your basement. To address poor ventilation, opt for ductless mini-split systems, portable units, or extensions of your central AC system. Combining dehumidifiers, AC units, and smart AC controllers enhances comfort and efficiency in your finished basement.

FURNACE TIPS
From Frisbees
We recommend you have a maintenance check on your furnace done annually. We start doing these types of checkups in the fall, but there really is NO bad time during the season to get your unit checked. It may also be a requirement of your equipment’s warranty.
There could be several different reasons for a unit that won’t kick on. If your furnace clicks but doesn’t fire, that could be an ignition malfunction issue. It’s best to call a professional to help diagnose why your furnace won’t start.
There are a few things you can easily check at home to see if you can correct this issue yourself. First check the thermostat setting. Make sure it’s on HEAT, then check the fan setting. Switch that setting to “ON”. If you have the fan on auto, the fan will run all the time even when it’s not on a heating cycle. Check your filter! If you have a dirty furnace filter, that is going to restrict the air movement through your system. Which could cause your issue. Check/change your filter every 3 months if you have a 1″ pleated filter. If none of these at home fixes are the reason your system is blowing cold air, it’s best to call a professional.
