Common Questions
We run into situations where the water inside the softener and the sides have turned an unappealing brown. Often times, this can be caused by dirty salt being used. It’s not harmful to the unit, but you may want to try and bail out some of that dirty water. Scrub the sides of the softener tank with a toilet brush. Then add some water and try to bail out as much of the dirty water as you can. We also recommend using salt crystals instead of salt pellets.
The best thing to do if you suspect you have hard water is the bring us a sample. Bring a sample into our Showroom, and we can run a hard water test for you. It’s that simple!
First, turn off your water supply at the main shut-off valve. As a homeowner it’s important to know where this is located and educate your family members as well. Second, always contact a professional plumber during emergencies such as this. An experienced plumber can help in finding the source of a major leak.
A toilet that continues to run usually has a problem with one of the components inside the tank. A worn or improperly seated flapper is a common culprit, allowing water to continually leak from the tank into the bowl. The fill valve or water level can also cause the toilet to keep running. If adjusting the flapper doesn’t solve the problem, our plumbers can diagnose the issue and replace the necessary components to get your toilet working properly again.
We generally recommend being cautious with chemical drain cleaners. Some products can be hard on certain plumbing materials, and repeated use may not address the underlying cause of a recurring clog. If a drain continues to back up or drains slowly after basic cleaning, it’s best to have a plumber determine what’s causing the problem.
